Obama's Eligibility Still in Question

Evens the “ch’mos” who were in Fort Leavenworth with Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, the military physician who was court-martialed for refusing orders because he could not get confirmed Barack Obama’s eligibility to be commander in chief, recognized that Obama’s release of a Hawaiian birth document last year didn’t resolve the question.

That’s according to Lakin’s new book, “Officer’s Oath: Why my Vow to Defend the Constitution Demanded that I Sacrifice my Career.”

The just-released book explains what happened in his case, and more significantly, why.

The officer had served with distinction, but decided that based on the available information, he had questions about whether Obama is eligible to be commander-in-chief of the U.S. military and order soldiers into war.

He had tried for years to obtain confirmation through the channels inside the military, through his congressional representatives, and other available channels, to no avail.

So he decided that his oath of allegiance to the Constitution required him to refuse an order from the chain of command headed by Obama. That would, he thought, force the issue, and possibly get an answer.

He got an answer, but not to the question: He was court-martialed and removed from the military. He now has joined a civilian physicians’ practice where he sees patients daily.

In his book, he relates that he was in Leavenworth serving what amounted to a 5-month sentence when Obama released the document he represented as a copy of his original Hawaiian birth documentation.

That’s the document that Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigators have concluded likely is a forgery.

But other prisoners called his attention to the news report about Obama’s action and comments, and then asked him.

“One question, Terry.”

“Shoot.”

“All you were asking for was a birth certificate, correct? If Obama had nothing to hide, how come he didn’t release it a long time ago?”

“I guess what they say is right: no one knows a con job better than a convict,” Lakin wrote.

He addresses his case in chapters titled, “Of Paramount Importance,” “The Truth Matters,” “Doing What is Right,” “Crossing the line,” “Duty, Honor, Country,” and “Walking Righteous.”

The episode with the question from one of the “ch’mos,” (child molesters) comes in the chapter titled 27 April 2011, the date Obama released the document and posted it on the White House website.

Lakin notes that Obama claimed to have “had every official in Hawaii … confirm that, yes, in fact, I was born in Hawaii.”

“‘Every official in Hawaii’? I guess the president did not consult with Tim Adams. During the 2008 election cycle Adams served as senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu,” Lakin wrote.

Adams stated that, “There is no hospital record of his birth in Honolulu … and the Hawaii Department of Health told us in the Elections Office that there was no birth certificate.”

What Is the Children Learning? CA Pushes Gay History Into State Curriculum

Never mind that homosexuality is an extremely divisive issue, in California classrooms it is not enough merely to tolerate—teachers are required to advocate.

SB 48, the so-called gay history bill, was signed by California's Governor Jerry Brown with the ironic statement that "history must be honest". Yet this law explicitly prohibits honesty in the classroom.

It was pushed through California's radical legislature supposedly as a further weapon in the war on bullying. But the law says nothing about bullying. Instead it mandates that all social science classes, starting at kindergarten, add curriculum that is positive toward lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual accomplishments in the social sciences, including history. But even more, it outlaws curriculum that "reflects adversely" on these same groups. SB 48 also prohibits a parent opting out of this radical curriculum.

So what harm is there in only saying positive things about a group of people and avoiding saying anything bad? In a social science class, this could present a rather distorted view of the world. Recently a group of gay activists was invited to the White House. Some media outlets found it newsworthy when a few of those activists posed for pictures while making rude finger gestures at a portrait of Ronald Reagan. In California, post SB48, a newspaper story recounting this ugly display would be banned in any school current events class.

Even faithfully liberal voices like the Los Angeles Times criticized the misguided law by noting, "Real history is richer and more complicated than feel good depictions."

A broad coalition is backing a ballot initiative called the CLASS Act. The Children Learning Accurate Social Science Act demands that social science curriculum include individuals based on their contributions to society, not their sexual orientation. And it goes further to require that no person is left out of books or instruction based solely on their sexual preference.

We need your help! There is less than a week left to collect the necessary signatures to put the CLASS Act on the California ballot. Supporters of the CLASS Act need signatures and additional funding to get their message out.

Download and sign a petition today in order to place the CLASS Act on the ballot and let the people decide if this is what they want their children taught in the California schools.

It is easy to see why Californians might take the time to help with this cause, but why would those who live outside the Golden State care? California is not Las Vegas. What happens here rarely stays here. The wonderful and the worst are exported equally to the other 49 states and the world. Defeat SB 48 in California now or look for it in a school near you.

GOP Rep. Tells Constituent Who Asks About Raising The Minimum Wage To ‘Get A Job’

House Democrats earlier this month proposed increasing the federal minimum wage to $10 an hour, which would catch the minimum wage up to the buying power it had in 1968. The proposal hasn’t gone anywhere, though, since Republicans who control the House of Representatives oppose any increase.
Asked by a constituent at a Fourth of July parade yesterday, Florida Rep. Bill Young (R) revealed that he is, predictably, opposed to the Democratic proposal. When a constituent asked him why he opposed boosting worker wages, Young replied simply, “Get a job“:

CONSTITUENT: Hi, I’m (inaudible) how are you? Happy Fourth of July. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is passing a bill around to increase the minimum wage to 10 bucks and hour. Do you support that?

YOUNG: Probably not.

CONSTITUENT: 10 bucks, that would give us a living wage.

YOUNG: How about getting a job?

CONSTITUENT: I do have one.

YOUNG: Well, then why do you want that benefit? Get a job.

Young seems to miss the point that the millions of minimum wage workers in this country already have jobs. What they want is a job that will pay them enough to actually live on, and Congress could afford them that “benefit” by making the minimum wage as strong as it was four decades ago.

LOS ANGELES, May 12, 2012 — Currently there's a bold new revolution going on in California, unlike every other time, this isn't coming from the Liberals on the Left or from Republicans on the Right, but from the Center. These people are beginning to adopt a new identity: the “Decline to State” and “Blue Republicans”.

These two groups, both inclined toward the Center or toward candidates outside of the mainstream, are poised to have a big impact upon California’s upcoming primary.



For starters, the Ron Paul supporters—many of them independents, Libertarians, or Democrats—are registering as so-called “Blue Republicans.” Not to be confused with the Blue Dog Democrats—the socially conservative and rapidly diminishing wing of the Democrat party—these voters are changing their party during the 2012 election cycle for the sole purpose of voting for Ron Paul in California’s Primary.

Their website states that these intensely passionate Blue Republicans who desire to bring a new vision to the White House, must register in California by May 21st in order for their votes to resonate within the California political system, especially the California Republican Party.

They are not alone in their passion and their desire to upset the system. In California, it seems that a large group of voters refuse to declare allegiance to either or any party, instead choosing to register as a “decline to state” (DTS).

These DTS voters are a highly sought-after voting block in California—and so coupled with the Blue Republicans, it appears that California is now becoming a very important swing state; even more so regarding the recent attempts to remake the GOP in a kinder and gentler image. According to recent polls, Ron Paul support in California is countable. This makes the Texas congressman an ideal candidate for DTS voters and Blue Republicans, because of his outside-of-the-mainstream views and his appeal to both sides of the aisle.

These “Ron Paul Deciders” could see the candidate as the payoff for their lack of support for a mainstream party candidate.

In an article to the Los Angeles Times written on 2010 April 4, Catherine Decker said of the DTS and Blue Republican voters:

"Nonpartisan voters account for 20% of the electorate in California. Their numbers began burgeoning as a consequence of deep economic changes in the state. In the early 1990s, the traditional defense, finance, and manufacturing industries that had powered the California economy and defined its politics began giving ground to information and entertainment companies. Their workers were more centrist, better educated, more diverse, and utterly uninterested in politics as it had been practiced by their parents' generation."

It appears that moderate, centrist, outside-the-mainstream candidates—such as Ron Paul—are the type of candidate that arouses the interest of this growing constituency.

There are several outlying reasons for this fact—a large state with several urban centers and many rural factors that bring a split in the voting—but the end result is that when the two major parties are as quarrelsome as they are in the Golden State, then the non-partisan or perceived outsiders gain strength.
